Position Title: Marketplace & Delivery Associate

Reports to: Marketplace Manager

Supervisor Responsibility: Some volunteer supervision

Hours/Schedule: 12-15 hours per week; Mondays and Tuesdays; opportunity for more hours beginning in early Spring

Location: This position is based at our Tillamook office located at 6825 Officer’s Row, Port of Tillamook Bay

Compensation: $17 hourly

Employee Classification: Regular, part-time

Requirements: Clean driving record, ability to lift up to 25 lbs.


Food Roots Marketplace is a program of Food Roots, a non-profit organization working to grow a robust and equitable food system in Tillamook County since 2006. Our Marketplace connects our community and its visitors directly to approximately 50 north coast food producers and their products. We also provide local food equity programming that increases access and affordability of this food for underserved and food insecure community members, such as SNAP acceptance, Double Up Food Bucks and free delivery service.


  • Be on-site to meet producers, aggregate products and fulfill weekly food orders for customers.

  • Implement weekly deliveries to homes and community drop sites; Greet and receive both producers and customers in a welcoming manner.

  • Handle weekly producer product pickup and delivery.

  • Provide customer service to customers and facilitate sales of products; respond to customer inquiries via email, phone and social media.

  • Be knowledgeable of the local food products sold at Food Roots Marketplace, who produces the food and where; understands and can provide information to customers about how to shop online at Marketplace.

  • Lead, train and supervise weekly marketplace volunteers who support order packing and fulfillment.

  • Ensure that the storefront and office remain clean and tidy daily while in the office; wipe down and clean refrigeration units regularly; sweep floors before and/or after each shift; Mop floors weekly or more regularly as needed; delegate these tasks to volunteers as available.

  • Ensure that items are priced and labeled correctly.

  • Facilitate sales; handle cash and other payments such as credit cards, SNAP/EBT, Farm Direct Nutrition Program checks.

  • Be knowledgeable of Food Roots Local Food Equity programming including Bounty Boxes, Harvest Boxes, SNAP CSAs, DUFB and SNAP Match, and be able to communicate these offerings to customers/visitors.

  • Facilitate Food Roots social media posts to promote Marketplace, producers and products available.

  • Process incoming weekly products and update inventory.


  • Motivated, self-starter attitude with excellent attention to detail, multi-tasking, customer service skills.

  • Strong ability to work independently, and to ask for clarification if any task is not understood.

  • Proficient in point of sale/Square transactions and ability to learn our online sales system through Local Food Marketplace.

  • Excellent and safe driver that is comfortable driving a Ford Transit Van with proper training.
