Local Food Procurement Coordinator

Food Roots Background

Founded in 2006, Food Roots works to grow a robust and equitable food system on the north Oregon coast through community engagement, education, farmer and food entrepreneur support, and improving access to local food. In the Spring of 2018, Food Roots launched its FarmTable retail storefront in downtown Tillamook and by March of 2020, was supporting 30 local food producers with access to customers through this outlet. By July of 2020, as a direct result of the pandemic, Food Roots launched its online ordering platform and increased its vendors to nearly 50 local producers. By the end of 2020, sales of local food products had tripled at FarmTable over those of 2019. Demand for North Coast food products has grown steadily in our region, as has a regional food systems partnership of more than a half dozen entities to support local producers in scaling up their businesses to meet this demand, determine necessary infrastructure and launch innovative collaborations. This position will serve Food Roots and our regional partnerships with focused procurement efforts to support buyers and sellers of north coast grown, fished, and produced food.
