A program designed by Oregon Food Bank and Oregon State University Extension Service and brought to Tillamook County by Food Roots.
Seed to Supper is a free 6-week beginning gardening course that gives novice, adult gardeners the tools they need to successfully grow a portion of their own food.
Participants will receive a course book and starter supplies such as a gardening trowel, seeds and plant starts, and a certificate of completion to get them going on their gardening season. Participants will learn low-cost ways to build healthy soil, plan their growing space, which crops to choose for this climate, and how to care for and harvest their bounty.
The course is open to adult participants, with first priority given to those living on a low income (self-identified as $1,945 per month or less for one person.) Those who are not low income will be given second priority, enrolled as space permits. Participants are asked to commit to attending all six classes, which run once a week and last 90 minutes to two hours.
