Our Mission
Food Roots exists to educate, empower and engage the people and communities of the North Oregon Coast
to grow a vibrant regional food
system that is good for the people, the economy and the land.
Our Vision
Imagine a regional food system where the land, its bounty, people and community
assets are held in high regard.
Imagine a place where education and community engagement are deemed important as a means of developing a more localized, healthy food system.
This is a place where youth and educators desire to increase their knowledge about their regional food system and are actively engaged in making lasting positive impacts within their communities by growing a sustainable food system.
Food Roots envisions increased diversification of our regional food economy.
We imagine a vibrant rural food economy where producers are valued and acknowledged for their contributions.
Food Roots envisions working with committed community partners, both public and private, who want to revitalize our food system while reconnecting with our historical and cultural food traditions.
We imagine a food system where all families, regardless of income, have access to healthy, fresh food.
Food Roots understands that knowledge and appreciation of where food comes from is vital for these things to occur.
